PRESS RELEASE

“UPSTATE CALIFORNIA CREATIVE CORPS ANNOUNCES GRANTEES SERVING 19 COUNTIES.”

Welcome to Upstate California Creative Corps, a newly launched grant program which places artists in service to communities across nineteen counties in Northern California - and get paid for it.

The California Creative Corps is an outreach and engagement campaign designed to increase awareness around environmental issues such as water and energy conservation, climate mitigation, and emergency preparedness, relief, and recovery; as well as civic engagement, social justice and public health.

California Arts Council has selected fourteen organizations to administer the Creative Corps across nine regions. For Upstate California, Nevada County Arts Council will administer $3,384,043 in workforce development funds for artists, as well as for arts and social service organizations who will employ artists between spring 2023 and spring 2024.

Through Upstate California Creative Corps, we invite communities across our Upstate Region to create projects and creative processes which hold meaning for you.

CONVERSATION CAFE

Our Conversation Café is a space for artists, cultural practitioners and culture bearers, as well as those serving organizations tackling important local and regional issues, to communicate both within and beyond their usual circles, in order to promote deeper understanding of one another’s work, and to promote partnerships.

Hosted by nineteen county arts agencies across California’s Upstate Region, our hope is that, in anticipation of the launch and rollout of the Upstate California Creative Corps, our daily conversations will inspire new projects that create awareness for public health, environmental issues, climate mitigation, and emergency preparedness, relief, and recovery, civic engagement and social justice issues.
