Welcome to Upstate California Creative Corps, a grant program which placed artists in service to communities across nineteen counties in Northern California - and got paid for it.

The California Creative Corps is an outreach and engagement campaign designed to increase awareness around environmental issues such as water and energy conservation, climate mitigation, and emergency preparedness, relief, and recovery; as well as civic engagement,  social justice and public health.

California Arts Council selected fourteen organizations to administer the Creative Corps across nine regions. For Upstate California, Nevada County Arts Council administered $3,384,043 in workforce development funds for artists, as well as for arts and social service organizations who  employed artists between July 1st 2023 - June 30th, 2024.

Through Upstate California Creative Corps, we invited communities across our Upstate Region to create projects and creative processes which hold meaning for you.

Nevada County Arts Council [as Administering Organization for the California Arts Council, along with its county agency partners] provided support that increased our region’s capacity to access grants, execute projects and use art as a force for good. The communication, technical assistance and reporting were second to none. They took a leadership role on behalf of our region, and we were able to see how art can be used as a tool for social change and bring people together during a historically important moment.
